Trigger Pull: A bit on the heavy side in terms of a typical double action only BB shooter. The pull is consistent and predictable but this will not be the fastest action shooter out there, and the heavy trigger may tire your finger when shooting quickly. Accuracy may also be compromised since the trigger will affect a smooth pull.
Build Quality: The M40 is an all plastic build other than the full metal magazine and some internal parts like the inner barrel. With the all metal magazine it feels pretty good in terms of weight, but as soon as you take the hefty metal magazine out it feels virtually weightless. That said, you wont; be shooting the pistol without the magazine in it anyway. Fit and finish look and feel pretty good.
Realism: In terms of size and looks, the KWC M40 BB Pistol is a very good replica of a real steel S&W M&P40 without the licensing. Again, the weight is on the shy side and since it's non-blowback it is lacking many working parts like a moving slide, a functioning takedown lever, or slide catch release. The full size drop out metal magazine and recessed barrel do help make the pistol more believable and I also like that KWC worked the safety into slide catch release to keep it well hidden.

Comments: If you’re looking for a low cost BB replica of the S&W M&P40 and don’t need blowback action, perhaps interested in a little more power and shots per CO2, well then the KWC M40 CO2 NBB BB Pistol may check all the boxes for you. The good news is we have a lot of options now if you’re in the market for a S&W M&P40 replica airgun. You can get the lower cost NBB version I am reviewing here, but if you want to spend a little more you could get the KWC metal slide blowback version which also comes in an airsoft equivalent And if you want all the markings then get the Umarex distributed version complete with S&W licensing.
