Trigger Resistance: The KWC Metal Slide CQBP M45 A1 Non-Blowback CO2 BB Pistol presents a moderately stiff the trigger pull, though not the stiffest I've encountered. The 1911-style trigger is a welcome feature, distinguishing it from the lever-style triggers seen on some lesser 1911 imitations. A lever-style trigger on the CQBP M45 A1 might have offered a lighter pull due to increased leverage.

Performance Expectations: While I haven't yet tested the KWC Metal Slide CQBP M45 A1 for accuracy, its performance is anticipated to mirror that of the previously reviewed Sig Sauer GSR Sigarms, given their similar mechanics. In my Sig Sauer GSR Sigarms review I achieved a 2.5-inch grouping from 20 feet away. Initial chronograph tests showed velocities nearing the 397 FPS claim, with an 8-shot CO2 average of 422 FPS.

Construction and Materials: The KWC Metal Slide CQBP M45 A1 balances metal and plastic components well, offering a satisfying heft. The metal used in the slide, magazine, and barrel contrasts with the plastic used for the trigger and hammer, which are more ornamental than functional.

Authentic Appearance: This model convincingly replicates an M45 1911 A1, complete with a metal magazine, functional magazine release, and safety. The inoperative slide catch and hammer, which do not support single-action firing, are minor drawbacks. A single-action trigger and operational slide would have elevated its authenticity, though it's designed as an entry-level model.

Pros:

  • Satisfying heft thanks to its metal components.
  • A faithful replica of the tactical 1911 A1, visually accurate.
  • Expected to deliver solid FPS and efficiency with CO2.
  • Equipped with a rail for additional accessories.
  • Features aesthetically pleasing white dot sights.
  • The barrel's recessed design enhances realism.
  • Emulates a true 1911 trigger and safety mechanism.

Cons:

  • Absence of blowback; the slide remains static.
  • The hammer moves without enabling single-action functionality.
  • The rear sight is fixed and non-adjustable.
  • Trigger pull is somewhat lengthy and requires effort, which may slow the firing rate.

Comments:

For those in the market for an affordably priced, well-constructed 1911 styled after the classic A1 but updated with a Picatinny rail and tactical sights, the KWC Metal Slide CQBP M45 A1 presents a viable option. While it lacks blowback and a movable slide, its robust metal construction and potential for high FPS and CO2 efficiency due to the simplified design may justify these omissions. This airgun offers substantial value for its price, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts seeking a budget-friendly model with a solid feel and performance.

Type: BB air pistol. Manufacturer: KWC. Model:CQBP M45 A1. Materials: Metal and plastic build. Weight: 2.1 pounds (950 grams). Barrel: 5.2 inches, brass, non-rifled. Propulsion: CO2 x1. Action: Semi auto non-blowback, double action only. Ammunition Type: Steel BBs 4.5mm. Ammunition Capacity: 21 rounds FPS: 394 fps/ 120 m/s. If you're looking for a lower cost well made 1911 in that classic A1 style but with a little bit of updating like having a Picatinny rail and tactical sights then the KWC Metal Slide CQBP M45 A1 Non-Blowback CO2 BB Pistol may just be right for you. So it doesn't have blowback or a working slide, on the other hand it has lots of metal on it giving it good weight and feel and with less moving parts there will be less to go wrong down the road. You can also expect to get fps into the 400 range with a decent amount of shots per CO2 so the trade off not having blowback may be worth it for this reason. All in all a nice airgun in the under $100 category.
