Trigger: The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver features a single action only trigger, requiring the hammer to be cocked back with each shot. This reduces the trigger pull length and weight, making it short, light, and easy to shoot. It's perfect for slow, accurate shots but less effective for rapid action shooting unless you have a incredible fast thump!

Precision: For our initial velocity fps test of the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver, we fired 5 rounds through our Chronograph. The slowest speed was 354 fps, while the fastest reached 368 fps, averaging 358 fps—somewhat below the advertised "up to" 420 fps from AirVenturi. This is still decent for shooting pop cans up to 30-40 feet away. The temperature in the Sea Can was about 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit), ideal for mid-range performance from a CO2 airgun like this one. In warmer temperatures, higher velocities are expected. We then set up our paper target 30 feet downrange and, using a semi-rested shooting position (hands on a sandbag and sitting on a stool), shot 10 rounds. We achieved about a 4-inch grouping, centered vertically but offset 3 inches to the left. This spread was surprising as our Crosman Fortify CO2 BB Revolver produced much tighter groupings, despite being essentially the same gun with different branding. Perhaps it was just an off day for us!

Construction Quality: The construction quality of the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is not particularly exciting. It's mostly plastic with some internal metal parts like the barrel, trigger, hammer, and CO2 area. The gun features a two-halves, screwed-together design, which looks better on the screw-less side. Being mostly plastic, it’s lightweight, at just over a pound. With few moving parts, it should be reliable. All mechanical components perform their functions adequately and feel solid enough.

Accuracy: At first glance, the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver resembles a Colt Single Action Army Revolver in shape and size, but it’s much lighter, at about half the weight. The lack of bullet holes in the cylinder detracts from its realism. We're accustomed to newer revolvers with working cylinders and removable shells, but these are more expensive and have lower ammo capacity, staying true to the 6-shooter design.

Pros:

  • A quality reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army revolver.
  • The 18-round magazine ensures high capacity and straightforward reloading.
  • The safety mechanism is seamlessly integrated into the design.
  • Features an elegant appearance with a black frame and bone-white grips.
  • Conveniently, the CO2 Allen key is built into the grip.
  • Its single-action trigger is crisp and light, perfect for accurate shooting.
  • With a reported 420 fps, it's ideal for target practice at 30-40 feet.
  • Licensed by John Wayne, it is sure to attract enthusiasts of the old west.

Cons:

  • The predominantly plastic construction gives it a lightweight feel.
  • Lacks faux shell holes in the cylinder, which could add to its authenticity.
  • Priced at double the cost of the Crosman Fortify, despite being a similar model.

Comments: The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is a good choice for those seeking a single action cowboy BB shooter, especially John Wayne fans. However, if the John Wayne licensing isn’t a priority, the Crosman Fortify offers the same CO2 BB Revolver at about half the price. Alternatively, shell-loading Single Action Army Revolvers are available, offering greater realism at a higher price, slower shooting, and lower ammo capacity.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 round internal magazine. FPS: Claimed 420. The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is for sure an option if you are looking for an old west single action cowboy BB shooter and specifically if you are a John Wayne fan. If you don't care about the John Wayne licensing and want to save about half of the price then my recommendation is to go for the Crosman Fortify as it is the same exact CO2 BB Revolver at the end of the day minus the john Wayne licensing on it. You also have the option of buying one of the many Shell Loading Single Action Army Revolvers available but they are a bit more money and will shoot a little slower with less ammo capacity but the trade of is a lot more realism. Ammunition Capacity: 18 round internal magazine. FPS: Claimed 420. The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is a lower cost mostly plastic Single Action Army Revolver with a fair amount of plastic in the build, but it does feel fairly well built and fairly solid other than being a bit lighter weight. It should produce close to 400 fps velocities in warmer conditions which is more than enough for plinking and pop can shooting which is really what it is built for. I do have to mention that this John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver for whatever reason is double the price of the Crosman Fortify CO2 BB Revolver I reviewed earlier, so if you don’t care about the John Wayne Licensing, than maybe consider the Crosman version for a lower priced option.
