Comments: The Umarex Steel Storm Tactical 4.5mm BB gun has a 30-shot magazine capacity along with a gravity fed 300-round BB reserve that makes reloading even faster and easier! This allows you to shoot five 6-shot bursts very quickly. You can also shoot in single shot semi-auto mode. The Steel Storm has the feel of a real gun. To keep the fun going, it is powered by dual 12 g CO2 capsules. The CO2 is housed in a drop-out style magazine for easy access.
I bought two, for two people. At first glance, albeit admittedly fun looking, especially when you watch a few vids of this thing, it doesn't look like something one could target practice with, for "real". Well, unless you need to train on a specific weapon, this gun, when equipped with a reflex sight, foregrip and picatinny strap locks becomes a different type of weapon considering it's 30 bb internal clip! That's a lot. Now, considering the "gun" isn't standard, it forces you to simply adapt, stay loose and take a good shot. The burst mode is fun. Since I'm new to plinking, in my 40s, as I revisit my youth, with a 16 year old in the house, I also started thinking about aesthetics and adding things to make it look menacing like silencers and stuff .... DO NOT GO DOWN THAT ROAD. If it looks like a silencer, even if fake, it's still generally frowned upon. Think about it: For bb guns, what would it take to muffle sound? ... probably way less than for firearms. That means that a fake, foam silencer attachment might reduce noise a bit, even as a decoration. If you wind up committing an offence by ridiculous happenstance, or try to save your life with a bb gun as the only thing nearby, but that has an attachment that provides a silencing effect (bb gun silencing is not the same as firearms) ... you can be royally %*& in Canada. SO!!!! Long story short, after educating myself, having a deep appreciation for our police force, I'm going to stick to picatinny attachments and will not put even a fake suppressor on a bb gun. The thing is fun as all heck, and it can be relatively accurate at a short plinking distance with a calibrated sight. It's very practical considering most pistols have much smaller magazines.

Steel storm
Pros. It's fun as hell to shoot though I put a reflex/laser scope combo on there i hit a pop can at 30ft in 2 shots usually with self destroying bbs go through both sides of the can. Faster then rated for a change. Way faster then my supposed 495fps guns. Accepts sights and bottom. Accessories 300 round hopper is nice but here come the cons
Cons. Where the ammo hopper is under your front sight and just slides. I've had mine open and spill bbs everywhere s few times. Plus where your off hand naturally sits blocks the feeder slide for the magazine. I also have had it fire full auto while in semi auto mode. This thing is a beast on co2 and bbs. You think you have enough you don't buy more went through 20 in an hour or so.
Conclusion. Great fun little plinker not a hunting device. Plenty of fun too shoot even in semi auto mode. Would be nice to have a second clip so you can still shoot while your co2 is warming up. And a generic Allen key style turn key to hold air in.would be nice incase u misplace a key. Its a huge little key. Buy this gun for entertainment not serious shooting but if you buy it you won't regret it and will quickly become your goto plinker. Thanks for reading and safe shooting to all

Umarex Steel storm BB gun
Great BB gun . Have not had any jamming or misfires. Only downside is you cannot purchase a spare magazine as the original in the gun has a problem with the rubber O-rings deteriorating after much use.

Novelty Item
Didn't know what to expect, it was an impulse buy. It does everything it says it does. Buy lots of C02 cartridges. It really needed better sights. The grandkids will get a kick out of it.

Steel storm
Great gun and good price but feels like a toy. They should have made it full chrome metal. And also with pellets.

Want to do some serious shooting?
I have purchased a superior bit of engineering and workmanship, an Umarex "Steel Storm" .177 BB gun.
If you wish to do some serious shooting, and can't be bothered filling a pocket-full of plastic magazines for your air pistol, then you would love this gun. The top part of the gun, instead of being a blow-back slide, is a reservoir for up to 300 BBs, and they easily pour from there directly into a 30-shot magazine with no fiddling around at all. Its twin CO2 capsules provide lots of power and help contain the 6-shot burst in a close pattern on a target. The safety switch has a firm detent so you can't accidentally take it off safety. It is easy to switch from semi-auto single shot to the 6-shot automatic-fire burst which flies out of there in under half a second.
On unpacking the gun, the first thing I do is take the handle section and an extra section of the Gamo Air Gun Cleaning Kit, and use that to measure the barrel depth and mark that on the cleaning rod. That way, is a BB is jammed in the barrel, I can determine that right away. The other test is to weight the new, empty gun on an accurate scale, this one (body only) was 1045g. If a BB was stuck inside, it would now be 1065g.
Being old and getting somewhat shaky, I have a laser sight on the top rail. I recommend a laser sight on top, and flashlight on bottom rail.
Enjoy!

A lot of BB’s out in a hurry
Not a huge fan of the all plastic construction, nor do I particularly like the looks of the Steel Storm. With that being said, the 30 round magazine lets the shooter release a lot of firepower as fast as the trigger is pulled when compared with many other semi autos available in the 10-20 round capability which is a plus plus. Mixing in the 6 shot burst with the 300 round clip allowing rapid reload places this gun high up on my list in terms of getting a lot of shots, with reasonable power, around the target in a hurry as I am not overly impressed with the accuracy of the stock sights. Overall I am happy with the purchase and could see it in a cover fire scenario as it’s best application.

Umarex Steel Storm fun
Love this pistol...?...rifle...? Gun! Go buy a cheap red dot sight, dial it in on semi automatic, switch to full and just have fun. Buy lots of co2 and bb’s when you order it. It’s that much fun!
