Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS is relatively long, with a medium resistance. This firearm operates in single action only, lacking double action. The extended pull accommodates the BB chamber mechanism in the magazine. During the first half of the trigger pull, a BB is pushed into the breach/barrel. Some friction was observed during the BB loading stage, and it is advisable to lubricate this area of the magazine to smooth out the trigger pull.

Accuracy: Testing of the Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS at 30 feet, using a semi-rested position (sandbag support at the front and standing at the back), resulted in a 10-shot grouping slightly above the center bullseye and well-centered horizontally. All 10 BBs remained within a 1.5-inch radius, with most clustering around a 1-inch group. The Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS achieved a velocity of 363 fps on a moderately cool day, suggesting it may reach significantly higher velocities than the claimed 360 fps in hotter weather conditions.

Build Quality: The Pistol features a primarily metal construction, contributing to its solid and sturdy feel. The only plastic components include the grips and certain magazine parts, such as the CO2 tab. The painted finish is a satin black. The fit and finish of this Umarex CO2 blowback BB pistol are of high quality, with minimal slide slop.

Realism: This CO2 Replica of the Beretta Mod. 84 FS has all the fine qualities of the original: It closely resembles the original in appearance and feel, includes a responsive blowback action, and field strips similarly to the actual Beretta 84 FS. The design features a full-size drop-out magazine for CO2 and BBs, as well as a functioning slide catch/release that locks the slide back when the magazine is empty.

Pros:

  • Good price for what you get!
  • Decent accuracy, power and CO2 usage combo.
  • Nice replica of the original Beretta 84 FS (Cheetah).
  • Crisp blowback action.
  • Working slide catch and release (Locks back after last shot).
  • Realistic working ambidextrous metal safety.
  • Full size dropout magazine that holds BB's and CO2.
  • Can be field stripped like original Beretta 84 FS.
  • Fully Beretta licensed.
  • Recessed barrel for realism

Cons:

  • Has the exposed CO2 tab on the bottom of the magazine.
  • Trigger is a bit long and tight because of how BB's are chambered.

Comments:

Umarex really came through on this one, perhaps they are listening to their customers more and more because time and time again we ask for the same things over and over again with our Replica Airguns: Metal parts where metal would be found on the real steel version, blowback operation for that realistic kick and single action trigger ability, a full size drop out magazine that holds the BB's and CO2, ability to field strip again like the original version, a recessed barrel so it does not look like a toy gun or a better way of saying it... make it just like the real steel version but have it shoot BB's :) I think Umarex got most everything covered with their new Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS CO2 Blowback BB Pistol.

Great replica but kind of a pain to shoot

The replica is wonderful -- it looks great, feels great, and the fit and finish are beautiful. Has a nice mass, a loud discharge, and it's very gas efficient. My only complaint, and it's kind of a big one because it really impacts the experience, is that the BB loading mechanism can make the trigger pull very sticky as the trigger pushes a BB out of the magazine. This same process is what gives it such a good gas seal, though, so that's the trade off. The spring pressure of the mag pushes the BB out of alignment a little with the breach and your trigger pull is forcing it past that obstacle. When it works it's nice -- you can take up the loading stage and rest right on the firing point for a nice crisp shot. When it doesn't work it's a chore and if you pull too hard you'll follow right through and shoot before you're well aligned with the target. The trigger reset is also a little finicky. Between the look and the price it's worth having but there are much more pleasant guns to shoot.

Great replica

I am very pleased with my purchase of the Umarex Beretta, it checks all the boxes. Very well-made fits well in the hand and just heavy enough. It is full blowback. Accurate and with a full magazine release. CO2 is easy to load. And all-around great gun except for one thing. I noticed after with my first CO2 that the notch in the cut out for the slide catch was beginning to bend. A web search shows that this can be a problem with this model. Ultimately the notch would wear out and The lock back after the last shot would fail. I mentioned this to Ryan at replicator Air guns and he immediately offered to exchange for another pistol. It is a pleasure dealing with this company.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was extremely impressed with this pistol, from the feel in hand, the way it shoots and the co2 efficiency. This gun feels really good in the hands, although I bought it for my girlfriend I enjoy shooting it just as much. The blowback is very snappy and quite impressive for such a small gun, almost sounds like a fire cracker on every shot. The accuracy is really good for a bb gun, I was hitting can sized targets from 50+ feet away with just a slight adjustment in my aim for elevation. On a nice warm day I got around 6-7 mags out a 12g co2 as well, very impressive considering the amount of blowback. The way the magazine is setup it is very easy to load more then one bb into the chamber if you are not careful but easy to avoid with practice. I did have one issue with this gun, the slide tends to lock back randomly instead of on the last shot like it should. Replica Airguns responded very quick and offered to replace it for me if I sent it back, but being on the opposite side of Canada during a pandemic it wasn't worth the wait to get the gun again, the problem is very minimal and doesn't affect the amount of fun we have with it! Thinking about ordering a second magazine to see if that changes it.

Beretta Cheetah

Very nice pistol, good blowback and very comfortable in the hand. Better carry gun than PPK I would advise you get the spare magazine also.

Great replica....but be forewarned if you have larger hands!

Beretta is one of my favourite brands and I have a preference for compact pistols, so the Beretta Mod 84FS was a no brainer for me. It is an accurate replica, easy to hold. Blowback is crisp. CO2 usage is excellent. However, I have smallish hands so this Beretta works for me...with a caution. The magazine release is VERY touchy and easy to engage accidentally resulting in misfires. Not sure if this is a defect in my pistol or a design flaw as I have not seen this specific problem identified by other reviewers. If you have larger hands it could be a problem for you. I like the pistol so much I learned to compensate with my grip which was actually kind of a good thing! May not be a good thing for you though. I like the lack of white warning instructions (they are black and recessed into the slide). The fact that Umarex used the CO2 tab design which extends below the magazine is a design weakness in my option. It would have been preferable if they would have used the allen key design to puncture the CO2 canister. Now, the trigger release clearly takes some getting used to, however, if you are patient and learn the release point, rapid accurate fire is very easy. So, I love a lot about the Beretta M84FS, so much so that the problems and / or design flaws I have identified do not prevent me from recommending the pistol, with cautions!

Has Issues

Had a lot of fun with this gun and kept it clean and maintained. Sights were slightly off and there's no adjustment, but easy enough to adapt. Averaged 70-80 shots per CO2. Easy disassembly/reassembly. Here's the main issue: Before burning through my first 6000bb container, the slide release latch started bouncing into my trigger finger when firing - like, hard. Took it apart and found the lock assembly had stripped and every time the slide hit the retainer, it tripped the lock. I still like the gun and it's cheap enough that I'm actually going to buy another, just to see if I got a factory defect the first time.
