Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS is relatively long, with a medium resistance. This firearm operates in single action only, lacking double action. The extended pull accommodates the BB chamber mechanism in the magazine. During the first half of the trigger pull, a BB is pushed into the breach/barrel. Some friction was observed during the BB loading stage, and it is advisable to lubricate this area of the magazine to smooth out the trigger pull.

Accuracy: Testing of the Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS at 30 feet, using a semi-rested position (sandbag support at the front and standing at the back), resulted in a 10-shot grouping slightly above the center bullseye and well-centered horizontally. All 10 BBs remained within a 1.5-inch radius, with most clustering around a 1-inch group. The Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS achieved a velocity of 363 fps on a moderately cool day, suggesting it may reach significantly higher velocities than the claimed 360 fps in hotter weather conditions.

Build Quality: The Pistol features a primarily metal construction, contributing to its solid and sturdy feel. The only plastic components include the grips and certain magazine parts, such as the CO2 tab. The painted finish is a satin black. The fit and finish of this Umarex CO2 blowback BB pistol are of high quality, with minimal slide slop.

Realism: This CO2 Replica of the Beretta Mod. 84 FS has all the fine qualities of the original: It closely resembles the original in appearance and feel, includes a responsive blowback action, and field strips similarly to the actual Beretta 84 FS. The design features a full-size drop-out magazine for CO2 and BBs, as well as a functioning slide catch/release that locks the slide back when the magazine is empty.

Pros:

  • Good price for what you get!
  • Decent accuracy, power and CO2 usage combo.
  • Nice replica of the original Beretta 84 FS (Cheetah).
  • Crisp blowback action.
  • Working slide catch and release (Locks back after last shot).
  • Realistic working ambidextrous metal safety.
  • Full size dropout magazine that holds BB's and CO2.
  • Can be field stripped like original Beretta 84 FS.
  • Fully Beretta licensed.
  • Recessed barrel for realism

Cons:

  • Has the exposed CO2 tab on the bottom of the magazine.
  • Trigger is a bit long and tight because of how BB's are chambered.

Comments:

Umarex really came through on this one, perhaps they are listening to their customers more and more because time and time again we ask for the same things over and over again with our Replica Airguns: Metal parts where metal would be found on the real steel version, blowback operation for that realistic kick and single action trigger ability, a full size drop out magazine that holds the BB's and CO2, ability to field strip again like the original version, a recessed barrel so it does not look like a toy gun or a better way of saying it... make it just like the real steel version but have it shoot BB's :) I think Umarex got most everything covered with their new Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS CO2 Blowback BB Pistol.

Good value

This is one of Umarex's better recent pistols and very good value especially at Michaels price. At the time of writing it's $30.00 cheaper than Cabelas. The pistol is very nicely made and fits the hand well. Action and accuracy is very good for a relatively short barrel. It uses the same kind of blowback system and magazine as the Makarov Ultra so is very snappy and quite loud. Even though magazines are expensive the trend towards the CO2 cylinder in the magazine is a good one as the seals there can be a point of failure.Very fast processing and shipping from Replicaairguns as usual.

Beretta 84FS

Really nice gun that eschews the usual 'stapler with a hand grip' design philosophy of most automatics, accurate reproduction of the original with well implemented trademarks, has a thicker grip than you would expect which makes it very comfortable and solid to hold. This gun shoots hard, and it shoots accurately. I just shot 36 rounds at a paper target with a 2.5 inch ring surrounding a 1 inch centre target. This was handheld with no support from 20 ft. back. The one inch ring was completely shredded, in fact it was only by subtracting the hits in the 2.5 inch ring that I was able to determine that 22 bb's hit the centre 1 inch ring. 10 more BB's were in the 2.5 inch ring, and there were 4 flyers the farthest of which was just over 3.5 inches out from centre. That's pretty accurate for a gun with less than a 4 inch barrel! The blowback is crisp, slide doesn't come all the way back but it retracts enough for a realistic sense of shooting and it locks back on the last shot.Things I would change. Make the magazine full metal instead of cutout around the CO2 cartridge for greater realism, white dots on sights front and back (although maybe Umarex are just being faithful to the original by omitting this), and ditch the plastic tab on the bottom of the magazine for a threaded plug and Allen key type arrangement, Would love to see Umarex come out with a higher end chromed model with wood hand grips as many of the original Beretta 84FS were produced this way. This gun is an excellent value, a very accurate shooter and makes a good addition to your collection.

I never really liked the look of the M92 Beretta over theWalters CP88's which I have the blued short barrel andcompetition nickel wood grip versions, so I never purchasedone. But I am glad I purchased this little M84. It has a nice look toit and all the guns feature's work like the real one.At 99.00 dollars the price is right and allows people to buildnice little collections with out busting the bank so to speak.D

Umarex Beretta M84FS 4.5 mm BB pistol

The Umarex Beretta M84FS was an instant must have when was first shown by Michael on his Shot Show Vegas 2014 report. His Table Top and Field Test Reviews strengthened my resolve to buy one. I finally purchased mine last December and have no regrets what-so-ever. Perfect size (for me), nice weight, and an excellent build and finish. Unfortunately, due to our crappy east coast weather, I wasnt able to use it until well into the Spring. Have to admit that the trigger takes a little getting used to due to the way the BBs are fed into the chamber, as fully explained by Michael in his reviews. (Nothing like the hair trigger on the Tanfoglio Witness 1911:-) Mine also tends to shoot a little high and slightly to the right. On a hot sunny day (yes, we have actually had some of those) this pistol certainly seems to have a high velocity, especially for the first couple of magazines. Also, it is rather loud. The only negative thing about the 84FS for me was the CO2 tightening screw/tab arrangement, as it really detracted from the realistic look of the pistol. After some thought, I came up with the idea of replacing the existing screw/tab with a hex, or Allen, key driven set/grub screw, as used on some Cybergun products. A friend was able to remove the pin from the tab and remove the complete original screw assembly. This was replaced with a grub screw of suitable length that had the non-drive end filed down to provide a larger surface area for contact with the CO2 cylinder. Using the obligatory drop of Pelgunoil on the CO2 cylinder head, I had no problem obtaining a good seal without any hint of a gas leak. Should also mention that putting a drop of the same oil on the feed slide of the magazine does result in a smoother trigger pull.I have a few pictures of the conversion but obviously cannot attach them to this review. Maybe Michael will post them if any other owners are interested in converting their 84FS.Ian Williams, Cape Breton, N.S.
