Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex and TDP 45 TAC is moderate to significantly heavy, typical for a double-action-only mechanism. The pull involves a considerable initial take-up, totaling about 8-9 pounds, with the release occurring at the very end of the pull, accompanied by a slight clicking noise as a precursor to release. If your experience includes using more affordable double-action triggers where the barrel extends from the front when the trigger is pulled, then you'll be familiar with the DOA trigger style of these guns, as they function in a very similar manner.

Accuracy: The TDP 45 TAC comes equipped with a laser, and I chose to use this instead of the open sights, although both options are viable due to the open channel beneath the sight rail. You also have the option to mount a scope or red dot sight on the rail. In my Field Test Shooting, I achieved about a 2-inch grouping for 8 shots, but with 10 shots in total, the spread expanded to approximately 4-5 inches. A note of caution: the laser battery door tends to open during shooting, so securing it with black tape might be a good idea. In terms of FPS, my Umarex TDP 45 TAC recorded 397 fps, close to the claimed 410 fps, in my 5-shot chronograph test with fresh CO2. Performance in fps could be higher on warmer days, as my test day wasn't particularly warm.

Build Quality: The Umarex TDP 45 TAC is constructed with a dual-sided plastic shell, incorporating all mechanical parts except the trigger, safety, and magazine release. The construction primarily uses plastic, with exceptions like the stick magazine, barrel, and trigger. Its lightweight nature means it's likely to withstand drops without much damage, and there's no concern over paint chipping.

Realism: The TDP 45 TAC CO2 BB Pistol doesn't replicate any specific real gun that I'm aware of. It's designed in the style of contemporary mid to compact-sized semi-auto pistols, though it doesn't closely mimic any particular model. While it looks authentic, its design is more focused on the simplicity of building a BB gun than replicating the functions of a real firearm. Nonetheless, its straightforward operation suggests it will be reliable over the long term.

Pros:

  • Reasonably priced at $60.
  • Good shot count per CO2, strong FPS, and respectable accuracy.
  • The universal metal stick magazine is interchangeable with various guns.
  • The CO2 tab is well-concealed.
  • Includes a sight rail, laser, and mock suppressor accessories that might fit other guns.
  • Discreet and small construction screws.
  • Reliable, proven firing mechanism.
  • The SA177-style CO2 hatch is convenient and user-friendly.

Cons:

  • Predominantly plastic construction.
  • Limited functional components, with most parts integrated into the plastic.
  • The double-action trigger is somewhat lengthy and heavy, which might impact accuracy.
  • The laser's battery cover could be more secure to prevent accidental opening.

Comments:

At $60, the Umarex TDP 45 TAC offers considerable fun and versatility for its price. Some tactical accessories, like the sight rail and laser, can be used on other air pistols with rails. While it may not be the most realistic or highest-quality airgun, its simplicity in design and firing mechanism suggests it will last a long time. You can customize its appearance by adding or removing accessories as you wish.

TDP 45 TAC

First of all it should be noted that shipping was surprisingly fast. My package was delivered just 4 days after I placed my order, and that was with standard shipping. Replica Airguns had the lowest price around, even beating a nearby store by $15. Now onto the pistol. For a $60(ish) gun it’s actually very well made. Every detail on my gun is flawless. Its mostly plastic but has a decent weight and feel to it. The picatinny rail, laser and muzzle brake that are included are great accessories that really give the gun an attractive tactical look. Add a red dot / magnifier sight on top to complete the look. After a quick adjustment of the laser I had the accuracy of this gun within 2 inches. With an average of 395-400 FPS this gun is a blast to use! Time will tell how long this gun lasts but since I will only be using it a could times a year it should prove to have great longevity.

High quality, excellent price

Very easy to use. Suppressor makes the gun look great, not to mention the laser. Can add one more accessory.

Too much fun for the money

Can be striped down to raw gun and rail and laser can be used on other guns. Mine has easily seen 2000 rounds and would still be going strong if I had stayed out of cold. I will purchase another before I will try something new. Well worth $$$
