Trigger Mechanism: The Umarex CP99 Compact boasts an exceptional trigger mechanism. Its brief and effortless pull ranks it among my top action shooters. This attribute enables precise and rapid firing without compromising accuracy.

Shooting Precision: The CP99 Compact's sights align perfectly with my shooting technique, requiring no modifications for me. This results in consistently close groupings, even during quick firing sessions.

Construction Excellence: The quality of this Japanese-made BB gun is outstanding. Having used it for nearly five years, its performance remains as reliable as on day one. The gun's construction and finish are top-notch, and it feels excellent to handle.

Authenticity: This BB gun replicates many features of the real 9mm P99 Compact, except for a longer handle and a distinct safety mechanism. My version doesn't have a cut-out ejection port, though I understand newer models do, which enhances the realism of this CP99 Compact replica.

Pros:

  • Closely resembles the original Walther P99 Compact 9mm in design.
  • Ideal for training, mirroring the size, weight, and feel of the actual Walther P99 Compact 9mm handgun.
  • Strong blowback action enhances the shooting experience.
  • Good FPS and CO2 efficiency for a blowback BB gun.
  • Superb trigger mechanism, making it incredibly enjoyable to shoot.
  • Equipped with a Picatinny rail for attaching accessories like laser sights or tactical lights.

Cons:

  • The ejection port on older models is not an actual cut-out but is instead integrated into the slide.
  • The safety lever's design is somewhat incongruent, detracting from the gun's authentic appearance.

Comments:

This outstanding blowback BB gun reignited my passion for Replica Airguns. Despite being subjected to extensive use and not always the gentlest handling, it has maintained its durability and reliability remarkably well. The Umarex Walther CP99 Compact is not just a thrill to shoot but also economical, both in its purchase and operation, easily delivering over 100 shots per CO2 cartridge.

The Walther CP99 doesn't do anything extremely well, but what it does do is it does a bunch of things quite well. It has crisp, fast and jolting recoil. I think it's nearing .25 auto or .32 ACP PPK level of recoil, it's that good with the right CO2 in it. Accuracy is not bad. It's not exceptional, but considering it's a short barreled 1st Generation Blowback...it's pretty darned good. Mine shoots low and to the right. So I aim high and to the left and problem solved. Things I didn't like. Well there is a bunch of them. I don't like the thin pistol grip backstrap that hides the CO2. It is the cheapest possible plastic and it doesn't fit as snug as it should. The paint on the gun is detracting. I have owned over a hundred real firearms and served in the army, so to see these replicas looking so fake in that manner bugs me. It's like putting on a $7,000 Versace evening dress and then have Mrs. Piggy do your makeup for you 30 seconds before you hit the red carpet. It just is wrong and I hope the companies start to work on this much needed cosmetic area of these replicas. The slide only cocks back half way unless you are chambering a round. That is less than real too. Then of course as everyone always also mentions, that unrealistic safety catch. The real one should be in play as the gun is trying for realism. The trigger pull is not great either, but is adequate. FPS is low at about 330 to 360 FPS. It runs out of steam at around mag 3. The fixed sights are cheap fixed plastic. Now back to the good parts again. The laser is great and can really help you dial in your shots much more accurately. This gun is a much better shooter with the laser. Despite it's cheap feel in some areas and less than stellar build quality in other areas I would still say this is a truly fun and must have pistol. What it does really well is it makes you feel like you are firing a real pistol. It has the weight, the balance and just enough accuracy and penetration to make it a real target and can plinker. Get this version with the laser. It's worth the extra bucks. Mick from Ottawa.
