Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Ruger Mark IV Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is quite manageable, roughly around 6-7 pounds, though this is an estimate and not a precise measurement. Compared to the light triggers typically found on real steel 22LR semi-auto SAO pistols, this trigger is noticeably heavier. However, with practice, and getting accustomed to its pressure and release point, achieving accurate shots with this pistol is entirely feasible.

Accuracy: During the field test shooting, we used lead pellets to assess the actual velocity of the Umarex Ruger Mark IV Pellet Pistol, comparing it with the manufacturer's claims. Shooting from a stable, semi-rested position at a distance of 30 feet, the pistol yielded a 2-inch grouping, slightly larger than the anticipated 1-inch grouping. Factors like the shooter's performance and pellet type can impact accuracy. The Chronograph test with 8.18 grain Sig Sauer pellets showed an average velocity of 312 fps, slightly below the advertised 320 fps. Lighter pellets could potentially increase the fps.

Build Quality: As a budget-friendly target blinker and licensed replica, the Umarex Ruger Mark IV Pellet Pistol doesn't boast an all-metal build. Nevertheless, the use of metal and plastics is well-balanced, and there's a noticeable improvement in the build quality compared to similar models, like the Buck Mark URX. The barrel fits more snugly when closed, and the trigger is now metal, perhaps indicating that the manufacturer took feedback into account.

Realism: This pellet pistol closely resembles the Ruger Mark IV Hunter edition in terms of appearance. However, due to its spring piston design, it includes a necessary hinge under the barrel and is lighter than the real steel version. The absence of functioning bolts, slide catches, or built-in magazines is a limitation of the spring piston mechanism.

Pros:

  • Good replica of the Ruger Mark IV.
  • Well-constructed overall.
  • Expected to be highly accurate, similar to the Umarex Browning Buck Mark URX.
  • Improved barrel locking mechanism over the Buck Mark URX model.
  • Adjustable rear sight with a fiber optic front sight.
  • Auto-locking safety feature.
  • The trigger is now metal, enhancing the feel.
  • Compact and lightweight.
  • Officially licensed by Ruger through Umarex.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons:

  • Lacks a built-in rail for additional sights, like its real steel counterpart.
  • The trigger pull could be lighter to better match the real Mark IV's trigger.
  • Additional metal in its construction would enhance the weight and feel.

Comments:

The Umarex Ruger Mark IV Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is an enjoyable and affordable airgun for both shooting enthusiasts and collectors. Its simplicity and single-shot mechanism hark back to the basics of shooting, focusing on accuracy over rapid-fire. Despite not being a high-end replica, it's a solid choice for those who appreciate target shooting with a pellet pistol, offering hours of inexpensive shooting fun and skill development.

Umarex Ruger Mark IV .177

At first glance and tactile sensations, a good product. After some time of use, I can say that it would be nice to make the handle rubberized, as it rubs the hand. On the one hand, the principle of cocking and setting the fuse is good and reliable, but unnecessary movements each time and checking whether the pistol is off the safety before firing cause inconvenience. For airguns, I consider the trigger release to be very hard, thereby reducing the accuracy of the shot. The sight is the most negative point that disappointed from the very beginning. From a distance of 3 meters with minimum settings, a miss of about 6-8 cm below. I had to remove the front sight to somehow compensate for the misses. If it is possible to adjust the sight upwards, then there is no lower level. Either it is necessary to introduce an amendment in advance (which is not very convenient, since it blocks the target) or remove the front sight, which I consider a disadvantage. General impressions on 3+.

Umarex Ruger Mark IV

Cool & similar to my Umarex Browning Buckmark URX .177 pel. pistol. Fun & easy to use with good accuracy, a great beer can plinker. I have placed at least 70 orders of assorted long & hand guns. So if you are still ín the thinking stage, the people at Rep. A. Guns will not let you down....

Incorrect info

This will not do 500 fps even with alloy. Not sure where you got that but even umarex's website says between 320-360 fps

I remember the Umarex Buck Mark URX being a super fun pellet pistol to shoot even though it is only a single shot airgun. Sometimes just getting back to the basics and taking your time to really place your shots and see how accurate you can be is more fun than spraying BB’s and pellets rapid fire and hoping you hit something. The Umarex Ruger Mark IV Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is inexpensive to buy and inexpensive to shoot, no CO2, just a tin of your favorite pellets and you will get hours of fun for it while honing your shooting skills. And at the end of the day the Umarex Ruger Mark IV Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is not a bad Replica Airgun if you are a collector of shot guns.
